Discover Farm & Flour

Tucked along 434-436 Pulis Ave, Franklin Lakes, NJ 07417, United States, Farm & Flour feels like that kind of hidden gem you stumble upon once and never forget. It’s not just the smell of freshly baked bread that hits you when you walk in; it’s the warmth of a space that blends rustic charm with modern comfort. I’ve visited this diner more times than I can count, and every time, it delivers something special-whether it’s a perfect breakfast sandwich on toasted sourdough or a wood-fired pizza that makes you rethink everything you knew about crust.

The first thing I noticed here was the attention to detail. From the soft lighting to the reclaimed wood tables, everything screams authenticity. The team behind the restaurant seems to have mastered the art of simple food done exceptionally well. They use locally sourced ingredients, and you can tell-the greens are crisp, the eggs have that farm-fresh richness, and even the butter seems more flavorful than usual. According to a 2024 local dining report by NorthJersey.com, Franklin Lakes has seen a 20% rise in restaurants emphasizing local produce, and this place stands proudly among them.

During my last visit, I tried their avocado toast topped with a perfectly poached egg and microgreens. It sounds simple, but the execution was flawless. A friend ordered the “Crispy Chicken Sandwich,” and after one bite, I understood why everyone in town raves about it. The breading is light, the meat juicy, and the brioche bun soft enough to balance the crunch. We paired it with cold brew coffee that could rival any specialty café. It’s experiences like these that make Farm & Flour feel both familiar and elevated-a place where comfort food meets culinary thoughtfulness.

Their menu rotates seasonally, which keeps things interesting. In fall, you might find hearty soups and grain bowls featuring roasted squash, while summer brings lighter fare like heirloom tomato salads and lemony pasta. What I love most is how the kitchen never overcomplicates things; flavors stay true and natural. It’s easy to see the influence of regional farm-to-table pioneers like Blue Hill at Stone Barns, just a short drive away, whose philosophy about respecting ingredients clearly resonates here.

Reviews online echo the same sentiment. Locals highlight the cozy ambiance and consistently fresh dishes, while travelers often call it a “must-stop” spot when passing through Bergen County. On Google, the diner holds an impressive 4.8-star rating, and most comments praise the service as much as the food. One reviewer mentioned the staff remembered their name after a single visit-a small detail that says a lot about the culture they’ve built.

Behind the scenes, the restaurant collaborates with nearby farms to source organic produce and pasture-raised meats. This isn’t just marketing fluff; I’ve chatted with the staff about it, and they can name exactly where each ingredient comes from. That kind of transparency builds trust and makes dining here feel more meaningful. In a world where fast-casual chains dominate, finding a place that still cares about craft feels rare.

While some might say prices lean slightly above average, the quality easily justifies it. You’re not just paying for a meal-you’re supporting a local ecosystem of growers and artisans. Plus, the portions are generous enough that you’ll probably have leftovers to take home. The location itself is convenient yet serene, surrounded by the quiet greenery of Franklin Lakes, which makes the whole dining experience even more relaxing.

Whether you’re stopping by for brunch with friends, grabbing coffee and a pastry to go, or enjoying a sit-down dinner, this spot strikes the right balance between casual and refined. It’s the kind of place that makes you linger a little longer than planned, chatting over dessert or that second cup of coffee. In my experience, few restaurants manage to capture both the heart and the appetite quite like this one. Farm & Flour isn’t just a diner-it’s a reminder that real food, made with care and honesty, never goes out of style.

  • What a great place! Had brunch on a Friday with girlfriends. We started off with coffee which was absolutely delicious- no weak brews here! It was very busy, but service didn’t suffer for it. It was a little loud though. I ordered the farmer- chicken sandwich with prosciutto and buratta. It was a little hard to eat due to the shear size- but was so yummy! The chicken was well seasoned and crispy. We will be returning to try more of the dishes soon!

  • Such a sweet brunch spot! We stopped in for a quick bite and loved it. Staff made great menu suggestions. I had the papa's purgatory. Such a fresh and delicious twist on the traditional shakshuka filled with savory bites of eggplant and olives. We will definitely be back!

  • We came in for a Sunday lunch around 1pm. The place was really popular with locals, parking lot was full. There was about 25 minutes wait time. Finally when we walked in, I was very impressed with the place. Everything looked new and slick. Though the place was little small and congested. Not suitable for big groups (5 or more). The menu had excellent variety of brunch items like salads, omelets, toasts, pancakes, burritos, sandwiches, wraps and smash burgers. The restaurant procured all its ingredients directly from local farms. The eggs had such distinguishing yellow yolks. I got the classic burger, that had double smashed paddies, well cooked. The burger had really good taste. Loved it. Fries were decent. I tried their pancake too. Those were soft and fluffy, excellent quality. The service was fine. Our waitress was friendly, did her job well. The food came out quickly. They cleaned the empty plates regularly. Overall the whole experience was great. We stayed few minutes beyond the closing time of 3pm. The staff were very courteous, didn’t rush or even told us anything about it.

  • Nice spot, decent parking, be prepared to wait, no reservations. They have an outside waiting area for your convenience. It’s a well run boutique breakfast/ lunch yummy spot. We were seated in a respectable time frame and greeted super nicely. The coffee mugs are gigantic, I didn’t need a refill Food was fresh and plated tastefully. Thanks for a great breakfast.

  • Very popular spot for the neighborhood. We came for Sunday brunch and had to wait 30mins. They do not take reservations, first come first serve. It’s quite small inside. Tables are close to each other. But the restaurant is clean. Bathroom is clean. The crowd could get pretty loud since we all sit close to each other. The food is fantastic. I got steak and eggs. The yolk was orange-yellow. From there I knew it was definitely farm eggs. The taste was packed with flavor. Steak was in cubes which was easy for the brunch. Chimichurri sauce hidden inside gave another layer of surprise. Overall solid spot for brunch but prepare to wait.
